One shawl, and no story we cannot back up

miraë.my started because shawl shopping in Malaysia makes you choose between two bad options. The cheap ones stick to your neck by mid-morning. The expensive ones are sold on a name and a photoshoot, and you still cannot find out what the cloth actually is.

So we made one. A cotton and bamboo viscose blend, cut at 180 by 75 centimetres, hemmed twice so the edge does not curl after the third wash. That is the whole range. When we have something else worth selling we will add it, and not before.

What we are not going to say

That the bamboo in this cloth kills bacteria, stops odour, or composts in your garden. You will see those lines on a lot of bamboo hijab listings. They describe the raw plant, not the fibre after it has been dissolved and spun, and regulators overseas have fined large retailers for repeating them. We would rather lose the sale than win it on that.

What is true: bamboo viscose is soft and takes up a lot of moisture, the cotton in the blend gives it grip and body, and 135 grams across that cut is light enough for a Malaysian afternoon.
